Need some advice

So, i brought my car to mitsu they changed my tcase and tranny fluid (i have free serivce) so i thought why not let them change it. Well a week later the tcase started whining like crazy. i brought it back and they said "yeah your tcase is letting go but we cant warranty it because your modded". I personally think that they put the wrong fluids in! But it could be the fact that i do have a built shep transmission and exedy twin disc. and i went to the drag strip frequently (now switching over to auto cross)

Anyhow.......

Heres my problem i'm a college student so money is a little tight, I found a oem 05 tcase in the box for 700 bucks. My question is do you think its a better move to save and build the tcase for 2,600 bucks or buy the 700 dollar tcase and take my chances and hope it doesnt brake?

My mods.....
TBE
MBC
272 CAMS
INTAKE
TUNE
EXEDY TWIN DISC
SHEP BUILT TRANSMISSION.

shep charges $2600 to build a TC? i thought it was less than that. i'm guessing the $700 one is used then? you could always buy that one and have your current one built and probrably resell the stock one for $700 or more. BTW, i think they probrably did use the wrong fluid. if there's some way they can check the fluid in it so you can prove the fluid caused the failure, i don't see why they wouldn't warranty it. but then again, this is mitsu we're talking about, best backed cars in the world. ha, ha! i had free service for 36K and opted to do it all myself for this very reason.

IT whines pretty much from 40 mph and on

This is a direct quote from shep racings website for their stage one Tcase rebuild.

We can replace your broken spider gears with heavy duty replacements. We also upgrade the cross shaft retaining pin to a 5mm pin We also reshim the frt diff and replace all seals

Stage 1 Includes the Following:

* Replace spider gears with heavy duty treated gears
* New seals
* Reshimming
* Neodymium magnet

Stage 1 Options:

* Add $200 for REM/Cryo

Price: $350.00 - plus $50 shipping and insurance

This would be your cheapest bet, but also 700 bucks is a good price for a tcase. My friend just sold his out of his 03 for 900 bucks. His tcase only had 30k, but has seen many drag events and it was factory as well. So like their saying. Go ahead and buy the tcase and then send yours off to shep and then turn around and sell the other one for 900 and get your money back and then some.

this price from shep is for non-ACD equipped(03-04)evos. it cost more to have an ACD equipped transfer case built, but i didn't think it was THAT much more.

yeah the 350 is for a regular rebuild when the tcase is fine but once your tcase goes "stage 1" isnt an option. The link you send me his tcase is starting to let go so it will be the same price to rebuild according to shep. Thank you though!

if the $700 one has 0 miles, i'd go with that. like i said, i think mitsu put the wrong fluid in it and that caused it to blow, not your driving. then please take this as a lesson learned to do as much routine maintenance on the car yourself as possible.

Yea man. I know the Diaqueen for the 03' Tcase is 50 bucks and you get a good amount. I just did my tcase and rear diff and i should have enough to do another 3 -5 changes on the tcase at least.
