EGR Code!!! Is It common and how to fix!!!!!!

did you check the vacuum line behind the intake manifold? i get the p0401 code all the time, and its always that line that pops off, and its a pita to get to
ive been lazy lately, but next time it pops off im going to either zip tie the hell out of it (dont know how since theres literally no space back there) or crazy glue it to the nipple

Clear the code and see if it goes away. Also check all hoses behind intake manifold. You will need to get under the car to check them all. It EGR hoses are the black hoses with stripes. There are three of them, I belive its black with green stripe, black with yellow stripe and black with red stripe. I had the EGR code for about 2 months and all hoses were intact. I cleared the code and it came back. One it just dissapeared and hasn't come on since.

Did you recently hook anything up to the vacume lines on top of throttle body?
If not, maybe one of the lines popped off behind engine, unfortunatley EGR system uses a valve with two diaghram ports and a 3 way solenoid so chances something popping off or clogging is likely. Make sure lines go EXACTLY where you found them. Your vac lines are color coded, they are NOT the same as I have in picture, picture is colored to identify same line in diaghram
Here's a diagram with the correct color coded vacume lines (and all the other emmision stuff) but configuration is confusing when compared to actual car:
Good Luck!

I've got a stubborn P0401 on my 2003, Its over 50k miles and I'm 3rd owner, not really expecting much warranty support.
I've checked all the vacuum lines and they're tight.
I'm not really worried about the SES so much unless its actually effecting my tune.
Also, does anyone know the effects of a full EGR delete on an Evo 8 with stock ECU?

Removing the EGR system without leaving the solenoid and MDP sensor intact will throw a code, the MDP sensor not reading the correct value will throw another EGR code..
It will not have any impact on the performance of the engine however.. Just a CEL, Unfortunately in most states, it will fail a visual and OBD-II inspection if its disconnected and/or has a cel light..

Fortunately, I live in FL, no emissions testing, I don't really think its worth it to take this somewhere to try to repair just to turn off the SES light. I've had pretty terrible experiences with Mitsu's and recurring SES lights (2g eclipse, 3g eclipse and now evo).
Guess I'll just ignore it for now, and probably delete it later.
Thanks
