RalliArt or K&N drop in filter??
Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of either of these panel filters. I want to stick with a panel filter. The K&N is about $50 and the RalliArt is about $110-120. I don't want to pay more if it is not worth it. I have also heard that the K&N filter can mess things up because of the oil needed on the filter. I don't think that the RalliArt is oiled--I think it is a foam filter.
Thanks for any input.

I have never dyno'd but I've tried the K&N on my 99 GSX and felt No diff what so ever. To be honest the best 30 min mod I ever found was a set of magnacore wires and denso iridium plugs, made a real but dyno difference to me.

I have to stay within the Autocross "stock" rules. It allows for cat back and drop in filter for "power adders". Thanks for the reply though. I may move to a different class in the future and will keep the wires in mind.

Plugs and wires are a gimme in stock class, there are no rules preventing upgrading them. You can do them, filter, catback, and thats about it for engine performance mods.
Or you can go ESP class and do a full exhaust, S-AFC, new intake/intercooler tubes, and waylay some unsuspecting Mustang owners... works for me!

As a fellow stock class autocrosser, I went the K&N route. Seat of the pants hasn't told me anything one way or the other. Will probably do the cat back and plug wires eventually, but that's it for now. Well, that and race rubber as soon as my new wheels get here (Monday supposedly)...

a drop in filter is never going to give you power you're gonna feel... don't you guys know that by now...?
Alas, i opted for the Ralliart... but probably should have saved the $70 and went with the K&N, but if the Ralliart needs no oiling, that suits me just fine...

There are actually 2 short plug wires on our 4G63 motors, as there are two coil packs, looking from the passenger side of the motor, on the 2nd and 4th cylinder. The 1st and 3rd are fired by wires from the coil packs on the other two cylinders (1 by 4, 3 by 2). So a pair of good wires could be used, no idea how much it would help.
Take off the plastic panel in the middle of the valve cover, removing the 4 10mm head bolts. You'll see what I mean.
And yes, Magnacore wires are fine for stock, had them on my '99 Miata in C stock.

They clocked a 12.54 @ 112mph with it (+safc and mbc)! Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you a great deal!
