resonator: bigger = lower exhaust noise?

resonator: bigger = lower exhaust noise?

i got a resonated testpipe...............up to 77mph its bareble...after that.....it is LOUD! i am thinking of a bigger resonator....will that help?

got a major headache driving from austin to houston and back

what do you mean bigger? do you mean longer? if you mean longer, then yes, it will help

The longer, the better. A larger shell diameter helps too.

Larger shell diameter while maintaining 3" pipe makes more volume for sound absorption which will help reduce sound.

The closer to the engine the resonator is installed, the more effective it is at reducing noise.

i'm limited to the length of the testpipe........but i can go bigger OD....

So...who makes the biggest resonated TP with a 3" ID?

Magnaflow makes 4" and 6" round resonators:

satin stainless

It would be better if you added a longer resonator to the cat-back portion. As long as there is room for the resonator, its pretty simple to add stuff like that into a cat-back. A muffler shop can do it for probably $30-$40.
