Just get the exedy Single disc 2600 Pound pressure plate. It's not hard hard and will work very well for someone who's not Racing 24-7.

Act is alright but i personly like the exedy. Good Luck.

i WAS going to get an ACT until i actually DROVE an ACT equipped car......i was ignoring the posts of people saying to stay away from ACT but when i actually physically drove the car and talked to ACT-equipped evo owners, i understood

three MAJOR problems
1: high-rev lockout....get above 6500 RPMs and you will havea HELLUVA time with gear lockout
2: clutch adjustment......you will be adjusting your pedal about once a week
3: dont forget to take out the clutch restrictor pill or you will experience a lot of problems

I have only talked to one ACT owner who was happy with the clutch, the rest are all sick of the BS you have to go though to get a FUNCTIONAL clutch.
I had my heart set on an ACT, especially for the price, they seemed worth it. Simply drive a ACT-equipped car and you will know what i am talking about

After ruling out ACT for their VARIOUS problems, i decided to go with the EXEDY TWIN HD, a helluva clutch at a helluva price, and it comes with a NEW flywheel so yuo do not have to buy one seperately. if the price seems a little high, remember what you would be paying for a new flywheel separately or even the price for resurfacing the stocker

1. can i reuse my stock flywheel (24,000 miles)

2. i will be upgrading my 20g-9-5 to a FP3065 so i need a clutch that will hold that power.

3. what are some good choices in clutches that are quality and not going to break the bank. and also where can i get these clutches.

so basicly i need a clutch that will hold 400+tq 400+whp that will not cost me $1,600. i see AMS has a single plate exedy clutch for $500 but is that better then stock? also Buschur has a ACT and centerforce clutch for the price range im in, are they any good and will they hold more than the stock clutch. thanks for your help in advance.
no get a stock flywheel and use stock throwout bearing- get the ss clutch line as well from AMS
yeah the AMS organic is better than stock-- It grabs a lot harder and holds stronger than stock-- but it can slip like wild tho too so be surefooted

basicly i need a clutch today. my clutch smeels after every drive and i dont want to try to go through the winter with it. i really really would rather not spend 1700 on a clutch and flywheel right now. someone give me a good sugestion, something that will hold 500ftlb tq and not cost me and arm and a leg.

The six puck is a ***** for daily driving until you get used to it. It is (like you said) on and off. I wouldn't recommend it unless:

a) you race a lot and need major clutch grip, and
b) the rest of your transmission is beefed up.

The more the clutch holds (on a launch, say), the more it's transferring that stress to the rest of the drivetrain. There are some hybrid clutches out there, though, that are full faced on one side and "pucked" on the other, which is a pretty good compromise.

Hope you are budgeting an install with all this talk about money and such. If you have the money go with the twin disc like everyone says and do it right the first time. I have exedy single plate ceremetallic. Stiff at first, but you get used to it. I bought it to hold up during the drag racing I do in the spring. The only downside is slight shutter to get the car rolling. Once you get used to the engagement point, you can minimize that shutter alot.

I'm going with the ACT 2900 HDSS and possibly the ACT Street Flywheel.. I've read good reviews. I've saw good/bad reviews both, but for the $$$ I think its worth it. I'm below 350WHP and will be for a while, so this will be the first step in clutch upgrades for me.. Next up will definitely be the Exedy Twin .

This is not an "ACT 2100" commonly referred to in DSM circles, even though the plate carries an "HD" part number. The stock Evo 8 clutch itself clamps at approximately 2100 pounds, which, proven time and time again in DSMs, does not last long in AWDs making in the vicinity of 300+WHP. Evo owners are finding this out the hard way.

This ACT upgrade should be considered an "ACT 2900", with approximately 2900 pounds of clamping once installed, which is more than enough to handle power for just about any mods, including most turbo upgrades and nitrous. Part # MB7-HDSS
