If you guys want to see pump gas i'll give it to you guys within 3 weeks.
Post back when you actually get it dynoed, I'm not sure we need updates everytime UPS updates their tracking page. And for what it's worth I'm dynoing on pump tomorrow. Still debating whether or not it's worth my time and money to also drain the tank and dump in the 117 though. At 175 an hour, taking 10 minutes to swap fuels sucks, and they charge more to run leaded fuel. The track is much cheaper at 19 bucks, but WTF, I can't wait another 3 months...

I don't mean to offend anyone here, I'm just going to think out loud for a bit. I don't see why anyone would upgrade to the EVO9 turbo just to get the bigger compressor housing. I haven't bothered to even look at the dyno charts since the compressor wheel is the same. I'm not spending one penny unless I am getting a turbo that can move more air, plain and simple. I'm not pushing this turbo on people by any means, but regardless of price, it's the only option that provides stock like spool AND another 7 lbs/min of airflow capacity over BOTH the EVO8 and EVO9 turbos. The next step up is at least a grand more, increases lag, and offers a piddly 3 lb/min gain over the GreenLT. I didn't even know that this turbo moved 49 lbs until I tested it, but the mere suspicion that it would was enough to sway my decision in this direction, for all of these reasons. Now that I have tested the turbo and seen the results I will be keeping it for the 2007 season. This is just my personal reasoning behind choosing this turbo, take it for whatever it is worth to you.

Smile Evo 9 to 20glt mod cost?

David,

If we already have an Evo 9 turbo will you or Robert be offering a mail in retrofit of the new turbine/compressor wheels and turbine house machining where we send in our existing turbo to have the new parts installed? I know Robert at Forced Performance has offered this on other turbos but didn't see the option on this one. Is it due to work hardening of the exhaust turbine housing with the heat cycling making the machining more difficult or for some other reason? Would love to see a retrofit option turn around of a couple weeks to drive down the cost and put it in reach of more folks.

Thanks for the great work and keep it up,
Rich

Dude, you honestly would be better off buying a new EvoGreen then selling your IX turbo. I tried purchasing one of these turbos from FP with just the port option(Which takes at most an hour to an hour and a half to do) and they couldn't even get it shipped out in 3 weeks(After promising me it would go out the very next day I bought it!!! ). To imagine them rebuilding your OEM IX snail I would hate to see how long that would take them to do! Super long down time! Good Luck though!

Here is likely a very good estimate of reasonable maximums for evo turbos on Daves mustang dyno if tests on the same car were made.
16g 9.8 350
16g 10.5 360
evo9 16g 370
20g-9-5 390
20g-LT 410
dynojet numbers would look like this
16g 9.8 390
16g 10.5 400
evo9 16g 410
20g-9-5 430
20g-LT 450

These are just estimates but are likely very close to realistic if you add up all the info that has been posted so far on evo turbo performance. The 20g-9-5-6 has proven istself at the track to be good for 3mph or about 35whp over a 16g turbo. I would say there is not enough track info out to back how much more hp the LT turbo has over the other turbos.

i have to agree as well. i am not going to waste my time getting a 9 turbo and i do plan to get a 20g-lt. it's just going to take much longer than expected.

my friend just got an fp green for his wrx for 800 dollars. i wish we were so lucky =\

Yes, Al, very excited to see what kind of power you can make with the turbo as you are the master flasher.

Let us know.

David,
I'm impressed from this great Turbo.
I will like to know what other hardware you recommend for this setup:
1. your lower intercooler piping or your FMIC (standard or Deluxe Core)?
2. injectors which size?
3. anything else which is crucial for this Turbo setup?

Thanks
Ran

RanEVo,

The car needs to have Stages 1-4 done on it before considering upgrading the turbo. That is my feeling on the matter. There is more power in doing Stages 1-4 than just putting a larger turbo on the car "prematurely".

The bare minimum though, if you don't want to do Stages 1-4 would be:

Boost gauge
Boost controller
Full 3" turbo back
Front mount intercooler (race preferably)
EVO9 BOV or better
Cams
Fuel pump
680 cc or larger injectors
Reflashed ECU

David, which cams does the BR Stage 4 come with? What do you see as the best cam options on an VIII for use in conjunction with the BR 20GLT turbo. Will it benefit from the higher lift cams like the Revolvers, Jun 264´s, and Tomei Procams? Or is it more compatible with the 10.8 mm lift HKS cams?

We use HKS cams the most. Depending on which fuel management you are running we can supply others that will work better but generally for good driveability we stick with HKS 272's as the largest with the stock computer and no hassles.

If you run a stand alone we have a great custom ground cam we have been using/selling.
