Injen SES cat-back exhaust installed (pics)

I finally got around to installing the Injen SES cat back on my IX. Fit was perfect. I just had to remove the heat shield around the driveshaft center support bearing. Other than that it was a nice and easy install. Being that the cat and downpipe are still stock, sound is very quiet. It is a little throatier than the stock exhaust, but not overly annoying. No droning at cruising speeds. After driving it around today, there is a definite increase in power over stock. You can feel a little more power from 3000 RPM and up. It spools up a little quicker in this RPM range. The exhaust tip is around same size as stock so it is nice and stealthy looking, except for the polished muffler and tip. The Injen SES is about 6 pounds lighter than the OE catback. I got an alignment today so here are some better pics.

This is a scan from Turbo magazine exhaust shootout. My exhaust is identical to this except for the titanium tip.

Remove the heat shield on a bearing? That doesnt seem like a good idea.

The heat shield is going back on once I get some more time. Just need to bend the bracket where it attaches, and fit the heatshield on. The issue was that the exhaust was touching the two studs that hold the heatshield over the center support bearing.

It sounds great. I am real happy with the sound as I wanted something near stock. If you are looking for something loud, this exhaust is not for you! I am going to install a downpipe and HFC sometime after the first of the year. I am hoping it will still stay quiet. I will get a sound clip on here soon.

I was looking for something stealthy like that for my evo. I want to keep a sleeper look.

It defintlely resembles the stock muffler. One other thing is that the muffler does not come out at an angle like many other exhausts out there. If you wanted to be a real sleeper, you could always paint the muffler and tip flat black! I definitely dig the polished look though.

Thank You!

I've been looking all over for a pic of the exhaust actually installed on the car. I had Injen on my 350z and loved it, and am hoping it will be as nice on the Evo. Please post some brighter pics.
