catch can importance?

Alright after a year of having my evo well 6 months of downtime to make money for the clutch i want to better my engine. I have a fully built and forged engine without a catch can, SO how important if any is it to have one?

I run one on my car (wrx) and it works pretty well. After i got oil in my manual boost controller i realized it was time for one and no problems ever since. I get some sludge in the tank though and i am happy its in there and not in my intake pipe somewhere. Buddy of mine has the arc one for his evo and it works great for his built motor.

Personally I have had mine on since March of 06 and it has barely coated the inside. At least its not in my intake right?

Depends on if you like the black bumper, if not catch the oil comming out of PVCC valve to plumbing (tough to do though)

had one in my modded 03 8 for a year and not a drop of oil came out when i went to drain it to see what if anything accumulated. But they sure as hell look good in the engine compartment and cant hurt anything.

there is a partial vacuum between the air filter and turbo...oil vapor will be "drawn" out of the breather port if its hooked up inbetween the 2

when I had my GSX I swapped out the stock IC for an aftermarket one. When I pulled off the stocker oil sludge was visible on the inside. Since then I run a catch can on any turbo car I own. Whether we need them or not on the Evo I dont know but Id rather be safe then sorry I guess

If you get one that's designed properly there will plenty of oil removed on both sides of the cover.

45K miles and no oil anywhere. But like most, sometimes you dont even know till its too late. Better to spend 100$ then $100's down the road. PLus it does look nice.....

I have been getting the oil in my intake. Is this a sign of your motor gettin weak? If my motor (i.e rings) were gettin weak and I had alot of crankcase pressure...wouldn't my dipstick blow out? Is the oil in the intake just from runnin 24...25 psi?? Should I worry?? I have noticed on occasion a puff of blueish black exhaust under sudden boost.
