Finally.. my first mods came in today.

Just came in today. 3" dp and test pipe. An HKS Hyper exhaust is next on the list and hopefully a filter. Either a drop in or a cone. My sole intent on the Evo will be almost identical concept as my old turbo teg. Run reliably on a road course all day long and see the drag strip probably not too often. Will post dyno result in 2 weeks and a video again from Thunderhill Raceway in 4 weeks for some road course fun.

btw... thanks to Darryl at Ultimate. The piece was shipped in not time. I just need to install this on the car soon!

Do you guys know if these parts cause any CEL's or idling problems, thanks in advance.

And is there any audable difference in the exhuast note? louder or quieter? deeper or more high pitched?

LoL! Just slap that pipe in. What are the chances of getting pulled over and a cop checks under the car..... never happened to me!

Per Darryl from Ultimate and other here on the board that have the test pipe on, they all said no cel appeared. Idling has nothing to do with having a test pipe on.

The stock exhaust on the Evo already has a deep rumble. Adding a test pipe will not drastically change in exhaust sound but once you install a full catback exhaust system, then sound will change even louder but it doesn't bother me at all.

Alright.. finally got it installed today. The car breaths so much better now than before although I'm still running on the stock exhaust which to me, it isn't that bad. Sound at idle is still the same but once your at WOT... it's louder. Not abnoxiusly loud, just a little over stock. It also pulls a lot faster to redline and I think I gained a pound of boost or so per my boost gauge. Need to confirm since the gauge reads on bar but there's actually a gain after this 2 mods.

Again.. NO CEL.. CHECK ENGINE.. from the test pipe from Ultimate. It would've turned on already on the first start. Ultimate knows their shizzle.

Cool

Alright... got it dynoed today on an awd dynojet. With only these 2 mods, my Evo made 222awhp and 246lb/ft awtq on my third run. These are just 3 consecutive baseline dynoes and there were no tuning involved and I'm running on 91octane pump gas. I made 185awhp on shivs dyno dynamics when it was stock and had 1500miles on the odo. I'am pleased with the results for now but the timing is disgustingly ugly after 4krpm and then the a/f falls off on it's face per the graph. Definitely need a fuel controller of some sort... piggyback controllers at least... to take advantage of the 4G63 on the high end that is capable of doing.
