Various Intercooler Weights

In reference to what some people were arguing in the first page about weight and racing I have to say that in this particular case we are talking about 10-20lbs weight difference at the most and it is absolutely insignificant or unnoticeable on any type of racing event(road race, drag racings or whatever)
Off course I don know that weight reduction enhances the specific power to weight ratio of a car thus improving acceleration and or handling but when you are talking about 10-20lbs don't expect any noticeable "improvements".
Another thing I noticed is that the vast majority of the people on this forum haven't ever even report their car weight. I have done the weight meassurements in all my cars whenever a scale was available.

You are wrong in this regards when talking about autocross racing. The EVO can make more than enough power (literally too much, uncontrollable power) with the stock intercooler. It will have better throttle response and a bit quicker spoolup also due to the smaller air charge to pressurize. Also, heat soak is not an issue because you are running on and off boost for 60 seconds max, then you have a 5-20 minute cool down time where you can spray the IC with ice water. You can run all day like this and never heat soak the IC.
As far as weight goes, weight reduction is not just a singular act. When someone is trying to save weight they don't just pick one part to make light - it is an ideal that guides you in every parts decision you make. 20 pounds may not make a difference you can feel in the seat of your pants, but couple that with the weight savings from light wheels, small radiator, aluminum IC pipes (vs. steel), hollow sway bars, mustache bar replacement, lightweight driveshaft, seats, etc. and all of a sudden you have an EVO that weighs less than 2850 pounds. . .
And yes, I've weighed my EVO "several" times. . .

When i got my AMS intercooler i also did the small battery and UICP to compensate. AMS FMIC plus some, Small battery minus some. Im a fan of weight savings because its one of the easiest mods.
