New SPEC twin disc

I'm currently working on a dude at SPEC personal cars and while discussing some things, we agreed on a swap for some of the labor. I needed a clutch. He brought me this today. It's one of the prettiest things I've ever seen. I know their rep is spotty here, but I live and work 40min from there fascility. I took a tour recently and it's top notch. I've also used their clutches and installed them on many vehicles with never a problem other than an occasional wrong TB or pilot bushing/bearing in a kit. It gonna be a few weeks before I can get this in the car, but I will let you guys know how it does. I've sampled this exact clutch in a friends 735whp Honda civic and it was not at all what I expected. Clutch take up was quick , but not abrupt. There was no chatter and it easily left from a stop without any drama. It was slightly noisy if the clutch was depressed but that was to be expected. Clutch assembly weighed in at 18lbs on my bathroom scale Anyway, here are the pics

Looks good, glad to see more competition in the evo clutch market.

Would this clutch compare with the exedy twin disc hd or something more aggressive like the tiltons?

It's a 7.25" clutch like the Tilton.

It has a HRB that came with it. I just didn't take a pic of that. I'll have to ask about the cost. It's not listed on there website.

I wanted to see how you liked this clutch. I have heard good things about spec twin discs for other applicatons and wondered if it carried over to the evo.

SPEC clutch is bad from what I have personally seen outside of the Evo world with all there broken Pressure Plates that come flying threw trannys bell housings and firewalls and or windsheilds on F-Bodys.

It does look nice though.

It does have a striking ressemblance to the Tilton. I ran a SPEC stage 2 clutch in my eclipse. It was a PITA to drive. Despite being an organic sprung disc, it drove like a puck style un-sprung, even with everything properly adjusted. Hopefully this one will work out well and be a cheaper alternative to the Tilton's.

I have the Spec Twin Disc on my Evo, it is the 1000ft/lb model. At first I was disappointed but the Spec Rep told me to wait til it was broken in. After about 1000miles it changed drastically for the better. It is a push style twin disc which is very aggressive but not totally bad for daily driving. I got the Spec twin since I do lots of drag racing and I wanted the ability of the twin disc to grip but also minutely slip and help from the shock on the drivetrain. So far so good, it's not for everyone, but for those running big power and wanting a solid twin disc then go for it. If anyone wants to ask me about it or has some questions, just let me know as EPM is a dealer now for Spec Clutch.

Drifto and I both have the new SPEC twin, not the Tilton, QM style 7.5" unit pictured above, but a new item that is more like the Exedy Twin, but with greater power capacity and push style (no worries about popping circlips).

It took months of tweaking for them to get all the clearances and tolerances adjusted to perfection, but they've got a winner. If you're looking for a street clutch that can hold whatever you want to throw at it, street-friendly as stock, and not sound like the car is rattling apart upon decel, this is your clutch.

I know there are a few of them out there, but I don't know specifically who has them.

Use the drop down menu to find clutch selections for a 2005 EVO. Select "Super Twin", and you will see them. The one I am using is the "P-Trim" unit.
