I think it becomes more of a matter of how much money you're willing to spend to end up with 450whp at that point.

Another factor in the CR / boost response equation is this. A higher CR engine has less clearance volume in the chamber. This has the effect of increasing VE (since there is less dilution of the fresh intake charge with hot, low-density exhaust gases). This of course means more mass flow at low engine speeds which directionally will help boost response.

Of course it has to be weighed against the reduced energy of the exhaust gas as you pointed out.

Well we are very close. We'll have the first few sets of custom rods & cranks will be here in a few weeks.

Compression ratio's available will be 9.25:1 and 10.0:1
10:1 will still be streetable but you'll need good tuning and keep the boost at 20psi or less. I ran 21psi on my 9.5:1 compression motor and that was near the limit.
you guys that track your cars or drag race will love the 10:1 compression.

That is a question that can be answered in so many different ways. If you are drag racing & street driving them I would say you can push it to 900whp. If you plan on road racing it where the car is under load for a much longer time then I'd recommend keeping it at 700whp or under.

So if you were running the 10.1 compression set-up with a AMS 35R can you safely run 25 to 30 pounds of boost on a road racing track or is that asking too much.

If yes, is this something you could only do for one race season or a couple of years?

If no, what would you recommend instead?

I am just trying to get your thoughts on what is limits of pushing this motor hard, but at the same time, not having to re-build each year, when using a 35R.

My car is a street/highway car..... 900 AWHP sounds sweet and all but I bet you'd need a 42R for that power, plug lag still might be too much for some people even at 10:1 compression...

I think the killa set-up would be the 2.3L block with a GT37R with 10:1 compression....

wow great work AMS. really hope this comes out right and you can sell these things.

a question, do you use the stock 4G63 block for this engine??? also i understand there is alot of cutom parts in this engine, but what lets you run a better rod raito over a normal 2.3ltr stroker??

also i think this engine willl be similar to what some of the UK tuners are going for. people like Norris designs are now running custom forged cranks and getting very good results.

Chris,
I noticed on the Norris site that they have only tested the 2.3 to 8300 rpm. That sounds like a standard 2.3 stroker that everyone is selling, albeit with their own crank, piston and rod selection. Do they have something similar to this AMS stroker that will rev to over 9k?

narrowed it down to maybe using this motor or the brian crower 2.4l in the future when i have money.

AMS powered road race car would be sweet to have.

whats the word on the pricing?
