Yes, I read that.... however after deciding there was too much surge, he sent it back. Now the car has a differant manifold on it apparently. So why did he do that?, now it won't be an A/B comparison to the first turbo they sent when he gets the new one.
That is why I asked.

vwjeff if that WTF was aimed at me yes it does matter , I like to know why things work not just that they may do so . If no one delved into anything nothing would ever change would it .
This is not to say that I think David is pulling out legs but even though he may not be interested in the why fors I am . I don't run a business nor wish to cut FP out of theirs but I think any prospective customer has the right to know what they could be laying out the folding stuff for .

Cheers A .

This turbo has already been compared to the old GT35R. Basically the same power at peak but better power the rest of the curve.

Put the car back together today but decided I wanted to change the oil feed line to something else so I have fittings coming tomorrow.

Dave, when you get this running, would it be at all possible to see a graph of torque or whp overlayed with boost?

The original test was done in the FP turbine housing which is the housing we use on our cast manifold turbo kits. Also the same housing my car ran 9.97 on. The turbo can also be put into the 4 or 5 bolt T3 housing.

dave, if you need a test mule car (im sure you dont)... but if you wanted to get one of these out on a real world car I would be interested in this turbo instead of rebuilding my (pretty much still new dont know why its going...). Maybe will cut down on the down time too..

Does either one of these offer better drivability? (less surge)

The new turbo has more surge than the old style 35r. BUT when we tested the HTA35r it had no ported shroud on the compressor. Now it does, that is why it was sent out. It's in this thread actually saying all this.
