bad BOV cause a SES light?

I was just wondering if a BOV that leaks because of a faulty piston could cause a SES light come on?
I have the Forge RS bov but it is one of the first ones that had the piston that didnt seat right so you lost boost for the first 5psi. I just ordered a replacement BOV that i bought on ebay. I bought a stock BOV from an Evo 9. got it for 55.00, thought that isnt a bad price since they are 165.00 new. Anyway just wondering if that could be causing my SES light to throw a MISFIRE code P0300
