Anyone running the PeakBoost GT30R w/ .63 AR
#17
turbos for the evo are 20glt, 50trim, 3065, 35r, 37r, and so on.
very few people buy the gt30 series and if they go you really dont hear great number pump or race gas, with about the same lag as a gt35r

Drifto's manifold is awesome, and scorke's running a 2.3, which is almost a necessity to get a 3076 to make good power on pump gas.
The PeakBoost kit is NOT a twinscroll like Drifto's and a .63 A/R might spool faster, but it will choke up top and you will lose a lot of power where you need it most.
In a drag race you only spool once, but you run up to redline 4 times so the .82 A/R 3076 would be decent, but a 3065 will probably be faster.
In a road race, you need it to spool over and over again, so a 20GLT will probably kick ***, and will be a big gain over a stock VIII turbo.
Where do you want your power?

I run a peakboost kit wit there T04R and I love it, i had some leaks that i found and I am putting a VSR,so the car is getting retuned right now , but before She made 373 whp and 313 trq, 22psi by 4400 rpm, if you plan on revving past 8500 on your 2.0 then get a .82, or if you are going to stroke it.

Here is a post of Drifto's dyno graphs with the 3076 on an VIII.
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=227972
I rode in scorke's car last week and it also has the GT3076. I thought it spooled very well and he was using the .82 a/r, but he also has a 2.3L. I have the GT3076 with the .82 a/r and RevHard manifold that I hope to have installed next month.

You would need the custom turbine housing and a custom manifold like drifto's to get a true twin-scroll setup.

Scorke,
Sent you a PM. Is that dyno a lower reading dyno, like the Mustang? I'm geussing that I should be making 350whp with all my current mods and my recently added ones (EMS,Carbonatics twin,3.5" exhaust).

again, that was on a 2.3, not a 2.0 and no, dynojets are NOT low reading.
And as far as lag is concerned, swap it for an FP Green, and there will be less. Less power as well I admit. I never said the FP Green would make more power, but it WILL spool better.
He said he wants it for street / road racing and without a 2.3 stroker I don't think he'll have very good response from a 3076. If he only races on tracks like Sebring with long straightaways, then maybe he'll be ok, but on any kind of a tight track, he WILL be faster on an FP Green.

^ I hear what your saying jbrown but in all realness, any GT series turbo unless its a 37R or larger wil womp on the FP Green on a roadcourse. The FPGreen is ideal for autocrossing, but the difference in top end grunt between it and the GT series turbos will be pretty big for the average joe, and on a road course you will spend little to zero time below 4k, which is after peak boost for me.....
The reason why lots of people run turbos like mine on the track is the performance AND the response. The 30R garretts are very quick spooling and responsive turbos.

I inquired about the Borg Warner GT30R from SLS, and if I'm correct, this one has the .82AR. Below is the quote of his reply to me pertaining to boost & lag.
"Yes the kits are available and have been for sometime w/ the Garrett
units. we are still doing some testing w/ the Borg Warner units. We did a
local 03 EVO8 w/ the GT3076R, it see's full boost on pump gas 0f 20-22 psi
@ 3800 rpm and on race gas around 3600rpm. That specific setup was stock
motor, cams, intake just bolted on the turbo kit, ran 11.7 on pump gas and
11.3@126 on race gas. Our FMIC cores are also now finished and ready as
well.
Nick
SLS"
Unless he's being extremely disingenuous, then it would appear that these turbos make good boost and power sterting @ 3800-4000 psi and pulling all the way up.
Jason,
While I agree that the 20G9LT is a great turbo and will likely spool faster, it seems that it would run out of steam sooner than the 30 series. it's a tuff decision for me to make and I only want to make it once and be satisfied.
I wonder how the Borg Warner GT30R compares to the peakboost GT30R?
