act hdss or xtss for 500whp

most ppl here have the act hdss. i was wondering if the xtream pressure plate was a better choice. i'm thinking about geting a gt3076r soon. so which clutch is better for about 500whp. the xt pressure plate only cost less tha $100 more.
also how much stiffer is the clutch pedal with the xt pressure plate.

500whp? Neither, but if I had to choose, I'd say the Extreme one, of course. The HDSS is only rated to 497 FLYWHEEL torque, so keep that in mind.

With that much power, you should have nothing less than a twin plate like the Exedy HD...

well i will probably run 91 octane 95% of the time so most of the time i will be at or under 400whp. i only want to run c16 through it once and a while. i also really dont want to spend $1500 for a twin disk.
i just want some feeback from some ppl that have the xtss because almost everyone here with an act clutch has the hdss and not the xtss

check out tilton twin disk (ceramic) it definetly blows away the exedy twin in holding power(750 ft lbs) and much lighter assembly only 19.1 lbs for the whole thing vs like 30lbs stock disk

It's a 3100# pressure plate - of course it's stiff. However, that should not be a worry. I don't know why people go for 500whp but then worry about the clutch pedal being stiff, but then again I also can't see how someone would spend that much money on a big turbo upgrade yet not get a proper twin disk. Many things confound me.

Evo542, no, the Tilton Twin does not blow away the Exedy Twin in terms of power holding capacity - what made you say that? Also, did you mean to say cerametallic, or were you really referring to a ceramic clutch?

Well some people are worried about the recent posts of people burning up exedy twins under normal driving, I myself have no problem spending the extra money on a twin over an act BUT I want to only do this once....I don't want to spend 1400 on a clutch and 400-500 on install and have problems, just like I don't want to spend 600 on an act + the install and have problems.

I have had experience with both the ACT Heavy Duty and Xtreme Pressure plates. I just recently switched out the Heavy Duty for the Xtreme and the difference in pedal feel is negligible. I for one don't mind a stiff pedal so it wasn't a deciding factory in my purchase.

I went with ACT because of the great track record and amazing customer service. I also hear a lot of positive things about the Exedy but i didn't feel it was necessary to spend more than a grand when i don't plan on making more power than the ACT can handle.
