Question Problem with Boost Creep...??

Today I finally drove my Evo with all my new mods. Those mods can be seen in my sig...

Here's my problem, I have the boost controller turned all the way out, so when I step on it at first it hits 13lbs, then when I get to about 4500 rpms the boost starts to increase as the rpms increase. So I pm'd warrtalon and gave me helpful advice and came to the conclusion that it is boost creep, and that I need to mess with the preload settings on the WGA, but my question is how do I do this? Please some help would be appreciated. Thanks

Bobby

lol I just Pm'd him too with the same problem....that is funny. I am going to disconnect my MBC first to see what my boost does then. That way if the boost goes to and stays at 12psi then i know that the problem was with the MBC. With the MBC unplugged, if the boost continues to rise past 12psi I will know that the problem is with the wastegate or tension. Am I right?

Did you mean your going to BYPASS the MBC ie(run a vacume line from the intake manfoild to the WG ?

B/C if you "disconect" the MBC and leave the WG line open , the WG will never open and the boost will go very high !

Stupid question but could leaks in the boost tube cause boost creep? Possibly a bad seal with the intake manifold or the LICP?

This may be a stupid suggestion, but have you thoroughly tested for boost leaks?

I have more than a boost creep it is an f*cking surge. I just noticed it today while in 5th gear. I am tuner for 27psi but in 5th it surges up to 29.5psi . It is expected, I have the 20G-8. But I have been playing with the WGA and it has helped alittle. Hopefully adjusting the WGA will help you.

In theory, yes. But, with how you've described the problem, you could be overcoming the amount of pressure lost by the leak at higher RPM.

Consider shaking up a can of soda ... it's internal pressure is, lets say, 30psi. Then, you jab it with an ice pick and the pressure begins to release through the hole. The amount of pressure released by the hole drops, but not in the same ratio. The pressure drops on a curve until the pressures equalize.

The same thing could be happening in your system (opposite, pressure wise, of course). You build 10psi of boost, and the leak releases 2psi. Build 15 and leak 3. Unless it's a huge hole the system can overcome the pressure released. That is exactly how a bleed style BC works. It is just a boost leak in the right place.

What boost controller are you using and does your 20G-8 have the Buschur HD WGA or the standard unit?

I just got my ebay o2 housing on and it creeps in 4th and 5th all the way to boost cut. Can any one clear up this idea of adjusting the WGA. I have been reading about this for three days now and I dont know what to do besides take the damn thing off and go back to stock. Also, for those of you that have creep, did you use the new gasket that came with the housing or did you use the gasket that was with the stock housing. The stock one was open in the middle between the hotside and wastegate where as the new one was closed, I wonder if that would have anything to do with it?
