Water pump

I made the mistake of replacing my timiing belt and not the water pump. Yesterday it went out on me. So now I have to take the whole thing apart again, fun stuff. My question is this, is there any reason why I should go with a factory Mitsubishi over a remanufactured from Discount? The problem is Mitsu will take a week to get it in, but Discount has them in stock, and this is my daily driver. I will wait if I have too, but i'd rather not.

Humm, seems we just had a thread on this where people were arguing that there was no need to change the water pump at belt time.

Some remans are good, some pretty iffy. So, one reason is that you are likely to get a better pump.

If you check the dealer parts inventory you will find that they keep almost nothing on hand. The way that they are able to fix cars is that they can have parts shipped in overnight - "Sorry sir, but to complete the repair we will need to keep your car another day." You can get this service too but you have to ask for it. Otherwise, - well you know.

No other opinions? No one has experience with a remanufactured part?

I'm a Toyota mechanic and I have never had a good experience with reman wp's. You could gamble and try it but you would most likley be looking for another one within a year or so. I would stick with O.E. or at least a NEW aftermarket pump.
