Installed First Mod - Filter Kit

well i told myself that i wouldnt start moddin for a while, but WTF...i shouldnt of bought the car if i wasnt going to be moddin.

anyways i just installed the Buscher filter kit yesterday (it is just a filter), to make a long story short, the stock air filter box was a ***** to remove...the bolts to the MAF to the box were on really tight, and the cheapo bolt ends just turned in the box and broke. and while doing this i accidentally nicked the honey comb a little does anyone think this is a big deal. i put 3 little tiny dents in the comb (really just surface dents)???? WILL THIS BE A PROBLEM.

well i am really suprised how LOUD the STOCK BOV is and the turbo. if you like sound, get this. as far as air intake temps, they are a little higher. But I have one question, does anyone know where the ECU takes the temp. from 1) is it from the MAF or the 2) intake manifold, cause if it is from the MAF, then this is NO BIG deal, since we have the intercooler. after beating on it i felt the intake manifold and the temps seem normal. FYI, i have a OBD II scanner. car seems to pull a little harder and hold boost a little longer.

i give the filter a

I have the filter as well... It's very nice.. I like it too.. The honeycomb should not present a problem if it's just knicked.. If you're really paranoid about it, get tweezers and try to CAREFULLY straighten them...

I would imagine that if the only mod you have is an intake, whether or not it would void your warranty, you could simply swap the stock intake back in when going in for service.

The only "Easy" way to get at those bolts is to remove the clamp to the MAF, and take the entire air box out of the car.. (2 bolts for the box, the MAF Clamp to the pipe, and the MAF wiring connector)

A little trick to getting those "Blind man bolts off" their sealed with RED Loctite.. If you carefully tighten the bolt slightly, then quickly snap it to loosen it, it will break free and then you can take the nut off.. HOWEVER, it will be easier and less prone to breaking the plastic of the air box if you get a set of channellocks, or ViseGrips (something that has an angle so you can hold onto the itty bitty head of the bolt on the intake)

Before you do anything about loosening the nuts, take some masking tape, and a lint-free rag, and tape it over the MAF honeycomb.. This way you won't bash it or dent it.. If you do, just straighten it out.. If its just a minor nick, it won't affect anything..
