Rev limiter in ECUflash, stock internalled engine
I've read where some people are flashing a little higher than before with a fully stock engine + bolt ons to not rub the rev limiter in the 1/8th or quarter mile in their IX.
Stock is ~7600rpm, and people have always bumped them up to around ~7800rpm. Lately, I've heard, seen people going to 8000rpm.
Is 8000rpm OK on stock rod bolts? That seems kind of like playing with fire to me, but I just wanted some more opinions and experiences.
I know this has been asked before, but in vendor forums and didn't receive the attention it really deserved.

Thank you for the reply.
8500?! Too rich for my blood.
I remember that Works and some other vendor were saying they felt 7800 was the maximum with 100% stock internals a couple years back when we all had VIIIs. I can't remember why, though. I did a search and came up with nothing.
If 8000 is safe day in and day out for a long time, it sure would be nice.

Well, when I say 8k is ok, I'm talking about going to 8k only in 4th gear in a drag race. You only need to do it in 4th gear in order to avoid shifting to 5th, but there would be no reason to go to 8k in any other situation or gear. Regularly ragging it to 8k in each gear would probably not be the best idea.
