Paradigm Performance Innovation (PPi) parts installed on my EVO!

Last weekend I finally got an opportunity to install most of the parts PPi has to offer. I actually thought doing the Intake Manifold would be worse although after I figured out the removal tricks it was off in around an hour and a half. Please enjoy my personal review and pictures.

Parts I installed:
  • PPi Ported Intake Manifold with Swaintech black coating and a 65mm stock ported throttle body
  • PPi Internal and External Ported Exhaust Manifold with Swaintech coating
  • PPi Ported and Swaintech coated Hotside Housing
  • PPi coated by Swaintech Invidia O2 housing
PPi Ported Internal/External Stock Exhaust Manifold with Swaintech coating
Comparing this to the stock manifold is kind of crazy. It retains much of the same shape although looking at it before and after you start to notice how much goes into the porting. On the outside the anti-lag bosses, heatshield bungs, and casting marks are removed. This process is done by machine because the solid iron the manifold is made from would take way to long to do by hand. Then it is smoothed out more to get out all imperfections. All internal porting is done by hand and seems to be as deep as possible. I tried to rach my fingers down into the ports and the porting was deeper than I could touch. It is gasket matched on both manifold and hotside. I also had an EGT driled although plugged it until i find one that I like. It is as much of a show piece as a performing piece.

PPi Ported Hotside 10.5 Housing with Swaintech coating
A 10.5 Hotside made better! Gasket matching done with the exhaust manifold to deliver ultimate flow and no restrictions. The discharge is ported around the exhaust turbine wheel to remove casting pores and is gasket matched here to bring to bring a smooth entrance to the O2 housing.

Invidia O2 housing with Swaintech coating
I chose this O2 housing because I thought it was the best. It is a very nice piece although with the addition of the coating it becomes hard to manage. The bolts were hard to tighten in places and gouging the coating was unavoidable. I relocated my O2 sensor outside of the spark plug cover and over to the coolant neck. This alone was a project as I had to strip all of the wires going for the injectors/ignition/etc to relocate this wire. After this fitment was way better for the O2 sensor. After all this I should have gotten the PPi O2 housing. Although it was a convience that PPi could get this coated along with everything else!

PPi Ported Intake Manifold with Swaintech coating
WOW, what a way to set your EVO apart. A black Intake Manifold looks cool. Although outside of the coolness it actually is ported to accept a 65mm Throttle Body and gasket matched to reduce the large step between the head and the intake manifold. Here I decided to use a phenolic spacer gasket to reduce heat transfer from the head to the Intake Manifold. The Intake Manifold does feel cooler after a run now. The porting is effective and really cleans thing up.

65mm Ported Stock Throttle Body
Throttle response is all I can say about this piece. The throttle feels lighter and more responsive. The stock TB is 59.4mm and this adds over 10% more flow to the motor. This mod I believe would actually make a stock car feel more fun to drive. I recommend this mod and make sure your TB gasket is matched otherwise you will not gain any peformance from this mod. Also be sure to note the orientation of where the sensors are installed. You may need to adjust them after install.

Swaintech Coatings
Well if you don't like how it looks you will like how it performs. It really brightens up the engine bay and the rough texture is durable and will hold up to the elements. I notice now I cannot see the heat rising through the hood heat extractor grill as I could before. The coating on the intake manifold reduces intake and radiator temps. The black coating on the Intake Manifold is actually proven to pull the heat out and reduce Intake temperatures. This is good as you don't want an IM to become heat soaked. The black coating used on the IM is the BBE Heat Emitting Coating and the coating used on the Exhaust parts is the White Lightning coating.

Overall I am more than impressed with these parts. The coating makes it a home run in my book although alone all of the porting is more than worth the price. Even if this is an "out of money experience"!

The exhaust manifold looks like a ghost is so light.
Nice mods.
