Clutch noise/vibration in Evo
This is not the deceleration noise everyone is having. My WRX had that noise (among other problems), subaru's fix was to install a heavier flywheel. When they did that the deceleration noise went away.
My problem is this, if I slowly let up the clutch to downshift into 2,3, 4th gear, there is a strong vibration that I can feel in the clutch, not to mention the loud noise associated with it. I have also heard it in 1st gear trying to pull into my awkward driveway, and it did it once in reverse. It started doing it at 2000 miles. Dealer says it is normal.
Any thoughts?

Wow, this is 3 years old. The problem is that the springs on the stock clutch disk start to loosen up and vibrate. So if you downshift it will make a screeching noise. When I pulled my stock clutch out, I shook the disk and you could feel that the springs were all loose. By hand too. I replaced the clutch with another stock pressure plate disk and flywheel. After about 15000 miles it started doing it again.
I wouldn't worry about it, it's just a noise. Heel toe downshift and it won't do it.
