Is it recommended to use assembly lube when installing new cams?

Yes. Go with the cam manufacturers recommended lube.

Comp cams told me No!!! I was very suprised. They said coat them with oil, and then I asked about the synthetic and they said that's fine.

Not in my car lol, I used moly (assembly) lube and changed the oil afterwords.

Oil is recommended by Mitsu, then some assembly lube on the outsides.. the lobes should be coated with oil to reduce friction.. Good luck if Comp says "no"..
