Remove the aftermarket fluid from the transmission, put the factory recommended fluid in. Remove all your mods besides the cams and bring the car to the dealership. It sounds like alot of work but atleast you wont be paying for a rebuild on your transmission.

lol BG II is tried and true in DSM and Evo transmissions. BG isn't that great but BG II is fully synethtic and has been used without complaint by thousands of Evo and DSM owners without any problems or grinds (even under road racing conditions). To say that "it sucks" is very ignorant. BTW, besides brass synchro's, the Evo transmission has nothing in common with a VW FWD tranny so this is irrelevant.
I doubt adjusting the clutch will help any. If it is just the 5th gear grinding, and none of the other gears, its highly likely that you have a synchronizer engagement problem (which is a common problem with the earlier 5 speeds). A good aftermarket fluid will help, or even the OEM 6 speed fluid (if you can afford to spend $80/gallon).

Good for you and all the other DSMer's and Evo boys for running BGII and having luck with it. And don't tell me it was user error, or it was my driving cause it wasn't
Look at you telling me that an Evo transmission has nothing in common with a VW FWD tranny, think about it. It has a cast case, gears, springs, bearings, "brass sycros", why am I wasting my time hear
... you proly don't even change your own oil, so go have a seat somewere and write to me a 1000 time...I WILL NOT SPEAK WHEN I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS I AM TALKING ABOUT.
