Stk ECU, Power FC some moonshine and some power...
So I bought a wrecked EVO. I fixed it, decided I'd be better off owning a Subaru to make parts for rather than a 4th (yes, I already have 3 EVO's I am a sick dude)EVO and I sold it to my brother Daniel.
The car has our complete Stage 4 on it with a Race FMIC, HKS 280 cams, 2-bullet mufflers. Car has 53,000 miles on it. Still has the stock head, springs, valves, retainers, shortblock, intake manifold and throttle body, stock ported exhaust manifold, STOCK EVO8 turbo and a SS 02 housing.
With me going nuts over E85 lately Daniel wanted to run this daily driven EVO on it. So we put some 780 cc injectors in the car and I loaded a good base map in from Al. Put the car on the dyno and spent a good 6 hours tuning it.
When the day was done it was making about 295 whp and 310 ft lbs. Not impressed. With the large cams/injectors and E85 the car did not like to idle and had a lot of compressor surge. Very odd, not a great car.
A few weeks ago on a "closed course" Daniel and I had a chance to run the EVO against my new Subaru, I kicked his butt. I'd tell you the times we ran but the timers were broke Subaru is making 295 hp and 390 ft lbs.
Anyway, we had a Power FC here we have been trying to sell for quite some time. Every time we install one of these I am impressed with how good the cars run. Today was no different.
It took me a few hours to work the entire mapping out. The car idles/runs perfectly now.
Power is rediculous now, 325 whp and 365 ft lbs of torque. Daniel is so freaking happy with it that he said, "You gotta go drive that car, it is the smoothest EVO I have ever driven."
The E85 seems to make the turbo spool much faster, which makes sense as it should.
Sorry that I am not here to promote the use of the stock ECU. In my opinion the damn thing just has its limits. If you opinion varies please post it elsewhere as this is not a thread for starting an arguement.
30 whp, 50 ft lbs of torque is a nice gain. Love the Power FC, I just have to remind myself how good it is every once in awhile by putting on back into a car!

Yes, two bullets in our V band system and yes to keep it quiet. One muffler where the cat goes the other in the rear as normal. System looks the same as the rest. It's not dual exhaust if that's what you were wondering.

There are no issues with the Power FC at all. We carry them and of course I'm one of their authorized Pro Tuning facilities. They have new software out for the normal end user now that allows the use of a laptop rather than just the commander.
They are very cheap compared to other stand alones.
