also u have to replace the shift base bushing and linkage bushing. when ur rowing throug the gears in a spirited manner, the soft rubber bushings will flex and increase your chance of grind.

does this happen under load or just normal driving? If it is happening under load then it is very common because these cars don't like shifting fast under load.

Since your car is new I suggest you take it to the dealership and go from there.

my opinion is to all evo owners notice somewhat of a notchy tranny, that is just how it is...9 out of 10 will agree.

I have a slight grind into 2nd and 6th very rarely. My car has 5300 miles and I just bought it. I found out that the tranny was just replaced b-cuz of the previous owner demanded there was something wrong. Unless they can REPLICATE it they won't do anything. Just wait til it gets worse.

what ^^^ said! i just replaced my underhood bushings with Zaklee Corp bushings and WOW, what a difference! all that sloppyness and notching in 2nd & 3rd are gone. also replace the fluid w/ 2 parts BG Synchroshift II and 1 part Neo RHD and all your problems will be solved.

heres the link to the Zaklee bushings, best $25.00 spent!

I bought my IX back in Jan w/ 5 mi on it and I had 2nd and 3rd gears grinding on me. I granny shifted the car for about 1000 miles and it got alot better. Hopefully it will for you too.

I would keep bringing it in to the stealership if you are still concerned.

for Mitsu

Dudes, the Tranny has to be broken in. It took my EVO about 2000 miles before the notchyness went away. Like every major part the car has to be broken in correctly. You can't expect a manual tranny to be buttery smooth right off the baot...come-on....give it some time to get worn in properly.....don't race it or act like you can dumpt the clutch until it's been broken in correctly thru time.....

A warranty is a warranty is a warranty......im so sick of these dealers trying to bully everyone......i would bring it back RIGHT AWAY just for the fact that you know you'l be modding your car soon, so take it in B4 they can hassle you about that stuff too.
