12.00 in the AMS EVO8
We finished a cam test yesterday and where so pumped we threw the car together and took it to the track last night. The car made about 350whp and 330ft-lbs of torque on the dyno so I knew that an 11 was possible it the stock clutch held up. We drove to Great Lakes Dragway and the first pass netted a 12.00 at 113.89mph. Every run after that was in the 12.1 range since the clutch was slipping pretty badly at the launch. After about 3 runs I noticed that we had a pretty good boost leak! I installed some fittings on each intercooler endtank to test pressure drops and I had then capped the fitting off with vacuum caps. When we installed the front bumper the mesh interferred with the vacuum cap and sheared it off leaving a nice 1/8" opening Bummer, I'm guessing that probably cost us about 10hp and 1mph in the 1/4. Adam Dubienczuk drove the car and he also did not spray the IC like I did the last time I took the car down the track. I noticed about a 1mph increase when I did spray the IC the whole way down so that might have hurt us also this time around. Giving the boost leak and not spraying the IC I think we could have pulled a 115mph trap speed out of it. Soooo close to 11's
We developed a twin disc clutch for the DSM's and now we're adapting it to the EVO8 so we should have it in the car next week and we'll return to the strip for that elusive 11 sec pass.
Mods to the car:
AMS stage II mods- consisting of: (a clutch will become part of our stage II kit)
AMS EVO8 downpipe-& cat-back
K&N air filter
AMS manual boost controller
AMS MAF pipe
Apexi-S-AFC
HKS 272/272 cams
Lightweight battery (10.5lbs compared to stock 35lbs battery)
here is a link to the video of the run at Great Lakes Dragway

Nice run fellas..... and the verbal comment on the video at the end expressed your dispappointment! You guys are going to have to start worrying about getting "kicked" by technical without a roll bar! Love it!!

Very impressive run. What kind of cam timing adjustments are you using with the 272/272 cams?
How did they impact overall power curve? Must have been some low-mid range trade-off to get the peak numbers up.

Nice run - looks like those cams work well on the part of the power band that we use while drag racing - 5,000 - 7,000 - and they make at least 30 hp on top - - - I'm curious to see a dyno sheet to see how the 3,000 - 5,000 rpm range is effected - if at all by the cams
