I have a K&N on my EVO. The model is HP-1004. Mobil 1 also makes a pretty good filter.

i was checking the k&n website and the only oil filter for the lancer is the hp-1010 and it is supposedly right for all mitsu L4 engines so i am bit unsure of it.

I think we should only use Genuine Mitsubishi Oil Filter for our Evo. Since our Evo are so brand new, it will be hard to find after market oil filter. And besides, you don't want your warranty to be voided if you use a different brand of oil filter wouldn't you? So stick with Genuine Mitsubishi Oil Filter It will make your Evo last longer.

I just bought my first filter the other day.

It comes with a replacement crushable washer for the drain plug. Something I'm sure any aftermarket filter wont have.

I definitely wouldnt mess around specifially for warranty reasons....and would advise anyone to stick with the OEM filter.

Oh...and save all receipts of purchase for mobil 1 and the filters!

Did any one noticed their oil drain plug under the oil pan? It has a white wire that connects to the drain plug. The very first time I've seen an oil drain plug with a wire attached to it. Must be an oil sensor I think.

if you have the oil temp gauge I believe the sensor is located in the oil drain plug and that's why there is a white wire.

Did you get a MD356000 filter? I just bought one and had to buy the crush-washer seperatly. It was not in the box with the filter.
