EVO IX full bolt-ons dyno #s

Ok almost full bolt-ons. i am still missing

Engine mods:

Apexi intake
ARP head studs
Cosworth cams
Hallman mbc
Megan o2 housing
Randomtech high flow cat
Invidia G200
Walbro Fuel pump
Forge wastegate actuator
Turbo-XS intecooler
Nisei Piping kit
Custom Dynoflash tune
stock EVO IX sparkplugs

Dyno Conditions:

Dyno Dynamics
1.10 correction factor
4th gear pulls always
32psi tire pressure everywhere
temp in the high 60s and humid as it rained that night!
The car has around 6500 miles
Redline 10w30 engine oil

Car was prepped and tuned at THE SHOP (at least most of it)... The tune was made at 22psi on 93 octane which proved to be of the worse quality as the car would knock with more than 23psi... Verified it today, as with gas from another gas station i logged the car up to 24psi spikes with 0 knocks!!!

Anyway... The blue curve is the new one. The red curve is without the piping kit and without the Randomtech car but the UR unit at 23.5psi spike with some knock! The bluw curve includes all the mods mentioned above plus a fresh retune from Dynoflash!

Power - Torgue

Power - boost

What do i see from the last dyno session and mods?

- my overall torgue went up 30ft-lbs as a maximum number with 1.5psi less boost!
- my full boost as well as my max torgue comes 500-550rpm sooner than before!
- at 3400rpm i have 90ft-lbs more torgue again with less boost!
- my whole midrange where my boost is similar with before i make anything from 10 to 20whp more
- at the topend i only lost 5whp, BUT my boost is almost 2psi less!!! with the same boost probably i would be at least 10whp more than before!!!

Saturday probably i will go to the track and play...

So glad that i have a IX...

Nice stuff kouzman!

In regards to what you said:

- my overall torgue went up 30ft-lbs as a maximum number with 1.5psi less boost!
- my full boost as well as my max torgue comes 500-550rpm sooner than before!
- at 3400rpm i have 90ft-lbs more torgue again with less boost!
- my whole midrange where my boost is similar with before i make anything from 10 to 20whp more
- at the topend i only lost 5whp, BUT my boost is almost 2psi less!!! with the same boost probably i would be at least 10whp more than before!!!
and you said:
Anyway... The blue curve is the new one. The red curve is without the piping kit and without the Randomtech car but the UR unit at 23.5psi spike with some knock! The bluw curve includes all the mods mentioned above plus a fresh retune from Dynoflash!
Do you think it would be safe to say that the reason for:
- my full boost as well as my max torgue comes 500-550rpm sooner than before!
was because of the piping kit?

I'm trying to see if there is some way to reduce the turbo lag. I know modifying the ECU (specifically the VVT map) helps, but did the Neisi piping (and presumably AMS piping kit or whoever sells them on Ebay) contribute mostly to less lag?

Or do you think it is something else?

My mod list is EXTREMELY similar to you, except I dont have the cams :-(

Do you log boost? If so, would you tell me when (what RPM) you hit peak boost (22psi) ? I am not hitting peak boost until 3500 (24 psi) and am trying to determine what is wrong with my car (very frustrating). Thanks

dude, you're spiking to 23, and falling to 18.

:does math:

thats a 5 psi drop, not a 2 psi drop. Why the heck are you tapering so bad?

I think he has the boost set at 2 psi less. So hes not spiking as high or maintaining as much as he was with the original run. Very impressive second run with less boost. Anyways, that car looks like fun.

Its a IX....they taper worse than VIII's. Mine tapers to 17-18 by redline as well, the stock turbo just cant keep up.

mate i am comparing the previous dynorun with the new one! if you see the power-boost dynosheet you will see that the spike is 2psi less as well as at the topend the boost is again much less but the power is very close! That between the two dynoruns, i m not comparing the taper..

Now i don't know if the boost curve changed 100% from the piping kit and the better cat. Dynoflash worked really hard on the car, made multiple pulls and adjustments on the dyno and then we drove on the highway to see that everything is ok in real driving conditions, not just on the dyno...

Yesterday i was logging the car at around 24psi. No knock whatsoever and the car left amazing!!! That's around 2 psi more than the last dynorun! the car feels like it picked up 20-30whp more!!! Its incredible what 2psi more can do!!!

cij911, I wouldn't be so frustrated with your rpm at peak boost. Keep in mind the OP is doing a fourth gear pull which will show an earlier boost spike...
