Trinydex, you are absolutely correct. I was going off memory, and must be getting senile, since when I looked at the charts again, I realized that my assertions had been incorrect. The effects were as follows:

Adding the AMS VSR intake is what resulted in the later spoolup.

Adding the ported head did not change spoolup, but resulted in less initital torque.

Both mods added topend power.

My apologies to all. I'll fix the earlier post...

... hey looks like I got it right in my second post in this thread. I just brainfarted my first comment ...

The divider does a better job of directing pulse energy into the turbine, so the answer to your question is 'yes'.

Thanks for your post. Could you list all of your mods? Where did you get tuned? Any dyno numbers/spools@?rpm

It will be great if you could post more info.

Thanks again.

Don't make fun, I know its not the best setup but it works

It wasn't dyno ran, they don't have a AWD Dyno so they did it on the street, but they have been tuning evolutions and STIs for 3 years and a friend of mine had really good luck with them, kind of expensive but she runs great now :-)

So... it seems that getting the race port job seems to give up a few hundred rpms on spool up, but with the bigger turbo and camshaft setup, the topend gain past ~3000 rpm is great is what I'm hearing. (I know I'm generalizing)

Does anyone have the bigger camshaft/race port setup with White Rabbit turbo, or 20G turbo setup? What could I expect with this setup?

Feel free to chime in. Thanks.

So long as the capacity and efficiency of the turbo is the limiting factor, that will likewise limit potential power improvements in rpm ranges where the turbo is near its limit.

you owuld expect the turbo to limit the power... just like it does now.

could you go with some wackjob combo like 280i/264e on a ported head and maintain good spoolup or would there be no point because of the 264 ehaust cam limiting flow anyways?

what about adding a stroker into the mix?
