Stock maf + cold air?

Hey, Im putting on my 35r setup this week and tuning with a flash. Ive read that keeping the stock air box on the stock maf will prevent the honeycomb from ripping off because it changes the air induction direction unlike a filter. I was wondering (in theory), what would be the effects of using an aps cold air with the stock maf, slower spool? how would it effect the honeycomb/same as an air filter? etc. Thanks

I know that some people (like Smogrunner) had to secure their MAF screen because it was sucked in at one point. Call up Tuning Technologies, they can explain what needed to be done.
