Exedy Stage 1 Clutch Reviews?

I am looking for a replacement clutch. I have 50k miles on my stocker and its tired.

I'm looking for something that will hold a little more than stock.

I do not like ACT (Issues in the past).

I can't afford an EXEDY twin disk SD.

If I dont choose either of the above (and dont want a full race clutch) what is there to consider? I see the EXEDY STG1 on ebay fairly cheap and am curious about its lifespan and holding potential.

BTW my car has 320WHP.

My Evo has basically the same whp as yours. I have the Exedy Hyper clutch and ever since it was installed I was getting the P0300 code cruising in 5th gear at about 3k rpms. The local Evo mechanic said it could be due to the imbalance of the harmonics on the car as the Exedy is lighter than the stocker as well as the flywheel. It hasn't done it lately though. Also you do have to give it alot more gas with the Exedy otherwise u'll get the "shivers". If it wasn't for the P0300 issue I have no complaints. But others on here have it and their cars are fine. Hope this helps.

i'm sure the exedy single is a good clutch. but what problems have you had with ACT? i've installed the ACT on 4 different evo's and countless dsm's and i've had nothing but ease with the installs and my customers/friends love the way the ACT drives and performs.

in the end ACT or exedy i think you'll be just fine.

There are two different types on EBAY right now. One is called the stock replacement then there is a stage 1 that is 40% stiffer but more expensive.

well I have to tell you that I have seen many issues with exedy twin and all other twin plates and ACT. I have a friend that has the exedy single plate and I love the way his car drives and behaves with it. I am going to go with that clutch also and I am having AMS install it for me.

I've just replaced my clutch with a exedy stage 1 organic n it feels really good, haven't got a chance to launch it yet still in the break in period, but it feels very solid and the pedal is a little stiffer due to the fact that the stage 1 has a stiffer pressure plate compared to the stocker. But from past experiences with this clutch in my other buddies evos I would say that the exedy stage 1 handles very well for evos that are moded up to 400wtq. Also if you didn't know the stock clutch for the evos IS exedy, I was surprised myself
