11.5lb Mini Battery for $60

I have been seeing a lot of posts about the mini battery kits and such, which cost a ridiculous amount of money. So i tracked down who makes the actual battery that weighs 11.5 lbs and it all goes back to one company.

http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/

The battery link directly is: http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/default.aspx?pageid=510

Model: ETX-14

These guys sell the following battery which is just like all the expensive ones out there. I picked it up for around $60.

I agree with you on the ridiculous costs! Nice job doing your homework and then sharing the wealth! Looks good Now you just need to get a smaller tray

What you pay for with the mini battery kits are the trays and mounts, not the battery. Those mounts are all machined in house. And they gotta do the bling bling and etch the vendor name into the tiedown of course. Thats why they cost like 120-140. Rather than 60, for only a battery.

So far no problems. You just have to be careful and not leave lights on or the just listen to the radio without the car running etc. Otherwise, it's been great even in the colder weather that we've had here in the NE!

Fit nicer this way. The battery can be placed either way. Says so in the instructions.

I checked out the site, but couldn't find the actual specs on the battery. Any idea how many CCA this is putting out?

I can't get the buying instructions...?
How can I get it ship..?

About the tray and mounts... I remember about 6-months ago that Buschur (or someone selling Buschurs kit) sold the mounting kit for about $40... maybe less..!!

Give them a call...number is on the website mentioned on first post. If not just do a search on google for DEKA ETX-14 and you will get a bunch of vendors.

Zwampy, thanks for the link, but it's kind of confusing. The vendor states that the ETX14 (same as 11.5lb Braille) puts out only 200 CCA; but then shows a pic where it is being tested on a digital meter showing 398 CCA. Maybe the difference in CCA has to do with change in ambient temperature?

If Deka = Braille, and Braille can power our Evos; then Deka must be good too...
