EVO 3 gearbox and transmission case
Hello!
Im pretty new here so i dont know if im posting in the right section.
To begin with, i bought a EVO III one year ago and had fun with it for about 4 days. Then the engine died for unknown reason. I had a new engine fitted for a 50% discount at the dealer but then a few days later the transfer case tore itself loose from the gearbox while driving(!). Apparently it took with it a piece of the gearbox housing and the transmission case together with the cardane are now laying on the pavement. What to do? Look for replacements? Repair the old parts? Ive looked into so many possibilities im confused.
Ill try to lift the car and take some pictures tomorrow if there is some interest in them.
Cheers

i can't understand what your saying..
anyways, from what i understood, i think you should go back to the dealer since he did the initial repairs for you and explain the situation to him. I really don't think it's fair for you to pay for all that since it's not your fault!

Wow they prolly forgot to tighten something, like all the bolts that connect the transfercase to the gearbox when they put the motor back in. There not gonna repair it for you? Wow never go there again!
Someone on here might be able to point you in the the right direction for parts but for the most part this website is US based and we never got the III.

What you need is a new case from a 2g TEL and a transfer case from a 97 and newer 2g. Then when you get the new case take all your guts from inside your evo III trans and install it into the 2g case. You will retain all your good evo gearing. That is the only thing that will work over here in the states, your only other option would be to have your case welded, but make sure the guy knows what he is doing because if there is any oil where he is welding the case will look like swiss cheese. You don't have any used cases in the junk yards over there? You might want to try www.lancerregister.com also. Hope this helps you.
