Exclamation oil light problem

hey every1, i have a little bit of a problem, and i hope its nothing major at all... when i start my car up and let it warm up, everything is fine, but its when after i drive it for a little while and then i let it idle, like comming to a stop at a red light, and its just under 1 thousand RPM, some time the oil light will flicker, but as soon as i tap on the gas pedal, and the RPM jumps a little it will turn of until it goes down to idle again... im thinking that it MIGHT be the oil pump internally, but it could also be the sensor externally or some ****... any thing? please help thank you

have you checked your oil level? either you have have a bad oil pressure switch or your running low on oil. make sure to check the oil when the car is warm.

I have been having the oil light flicker at idle when warm at around 700-800rpms running mobil 1 10w30. I have 13,000 miles on the IX MR. I know 90's mitsu oil sending units are known to be flaky and trip the oil light when the pressure drops (idle). Both my 94 and 95 Talon had this issue, guess it seems fitting I buy another mitsu and have the same issue again. :/

Yeah, just checking if you were one of those people who thinks 0 weight oil is the key to horsepower.

From what I've read Evo's don't ordinarily do this. I'd try a new sender. If that doesn't fix it then it is probably time for a more serious investigation.

I noticed today that the oil light would not start to flicker at idle (stop light) until the oil temp got to about 70 degrees celsius or higher.

mine is doing the same thing, after the temp gets to around 180 degrees, only at idle. i changed the oil to RP 10w-40. but its the same but my oil psi went up at idle. so im just going to try changing the factory part and see what happends.

all you guys with the problem seem to be 9's... i would go to the dealer and reference this thread. its probably just a bad oil pressure switch but you never know...
