Re-use stock spring bolt setup on aftermarket downpipes?
How many of you have re-used the stock spring bolt and nut setup with an aftermarket downpipe?
I have an ebay one and it came with some longer bolts and they don't seem to put enough pressure against the 02 housing causing a leak. Not a huge leak, but I can feel it and it bothers me
This downpipe is funky too - It has a metal machined collar that slides onto the protrusion in the stock 02 housing and then a 3" donut attaches to it and allows the downpipe to bolt up. This may be the cause of the leak as well, but I couldnt use the stock spring bolt setup as the springs are waay too long - thanks to the funky setup mentioned above.
I am on the hunt for a helix V2 downpipe and will sell this one as soon as I find one!
Thanks!

for the thread starter, do you have a pic or a link to the downpipe so we can see what kind of gasket it uses?

evo150 - I have an Evo 9, your sig says 8. FYI - The 9's have ACD and this cause clearance issues!
Also, I will post pics when I take it off. Its the strangest thing and neither of my friends with Evo's have this setup. One of them even has the XS Power setup and it seems to be a different downpipe. Thanks!

Oops, I totally forgot - I stand corrected. Thanks - SmikeEvo!
Oh yeah, I agree on the Ebay parts - But, in my defense - I am not a cheapass by any means. I had read so much about how good the Ebay exhaust parts were by all the posts here. Another reason was I didnt want to buy an expensive downpipe as I planned on upgrading to a full-race kit someday....

Just use the stock doughnut gasket and reuse the stock bolts with springs. My.setup was fine and no bolts should have been able to be used on the dp to o2. The only prob I had was a stripped hole in the o2 from the person before cross threading it. While your down there you might as well change your gasket if you don't want to do it down the road but mine was fine

I reused the stock gasket and bolts and it seems to be leak free and working fine.
I suppose you could put washers to shim the longer bolts but if the stockers will work then that is what I would use. This goes without actually seeing the part you have and it's flange. as others said pictures might be helpful.
