Official word is that the noise my car is making is "normal" and that it is safe to drive in the interim, but the noise is still pretty horrible metal-on-metal so I'm leaving it be until the new parts are in.

If it's "normal" then why are they replacing the gearbox and transfer case. I'm really starting to hate that word when it's used by Mitsubishi
I think that is there way of getting out of paying for a rental cause if it's "normal" and safe to drive they have no reason to provide you a rental.
