Buschur said earlier they dont think a 2.3 has the leg up top to really work a GT45. the high reving 2.0ltr units would be better suited as the revs and boost get you into the turbo effective range.

there is a honda, i think, running a 4g63 on buschur's site running a GT45r kit. its a drag only car and got a 100shot (agian i think) to spool the beast.

still think the VNT would be a good route. going to try and dig up some more info.

....bbuuttttt you can aslo get a VNT version that would be insane on a 2.3ltr motor! have seen them work on a V8 and he was getting full boost under 3k!

Chris.

Yeah, and how many times 2.3 was the displacement of the V8.

45R FTMFL.

scorke, what im getting at is with the VNT version of this turbo, i think you might beable to spool quicker than a GT42R! i have to do some more looking (will get on it tomorrow).

Buschur, is the GT45 you guys offer a T4 or a T6 housing????

thanks CHris.

Even if you had a VNT system on the car there is no way you would make any usable power out of a gt45r on a 2.0 or 2.3.

And unless you have a mild 5.0 or stock ls1 a gt45 is too small. Most go with gt47-80's or 88's.

My 408 uses a Airwerks s595 turbo (95mm). Full thumber frame t6- exhaust and 5" DP.
I get full spool by 3700 rpm through and automatic

Here you go

gt35r 1.10 turbine housing Vs s95 turbine

That last pic pretty much sums it up, these turbos are wayyyyyy too big.

Noogles I know what your saying regarding VNT, but why use it on such a silly sized turbo?

To me for out applications a 35R or 30R spooling 7-800 rpms sooner would be sweet i feel.

What if we were able to get a gt42r to spool like a gt37r? Would that be possible with the VNT?

A VNT system is incredibly complex, you w ould need a dedicated computer to control it. Not to mention the fact that the reliability on most VNT turbines is almost non existent. Dodge, Ford, And Porche have replaced almost every VNT unit sold.

I would never use VNT, i would either pick a small turbo and run more boost or use a larger turbo and live with the lag, no reason to make a system more complex.

As Noogles stated, VNT isn't reliable on gasoline engines with their much higher EGTs compared to the diesels.

Hey man, have you seen that vid of the supra with the S595 on it? Freaking hilarious, it was done just for the hell of it and obviously the hood cannot be closed.
