EVC problem

Hey Guys,

I installed an HKS EVC (the newest one) and I have a 2 problems.

1) When boosting above 16psi i get a stuttering affect, I CAN'T feel it in the car but I can hear it, its like ss-ss-sss-sss-ss, I dont think its normal...

2) I have my target boost set to 19psi, but I start tapering down to 16psi @ redline...

ps I set my max-stable-wastegate boost to 10.7psi (which is what I hit if I drive around with the EVC off!)

Any ideas?

Cheers
Dave

A little old thread but I need some answers none the less. Ive got the EVC 6 and had to unplug it because the thing just kept beeping and wouldnt stop no matter what. Became quite annoying to say the least.

Well my question is. Has anyone else had this problem? What was the fix? And when you did your initial setup, did you have to make a pull down the road at WOT to find out your max wastegate pressure?

Ive got a Toyota Supra Turbo and there isnt many guys around running this boost controller so I cant get any help from those guys. And not many local South Jersey guys that I know of have it either. I picked it up from Jondemand on this site and have PM'd them a couple times but no reply back from them..

Thanks Guys,

Mike

beeping - hmm have you got the manual it tells you what the beeping is ... most liekly overboost/boot warning...

is supra twin turbo??

for my evo I WOT'd at 10.7PSI but I had to put in 12.5 to get the controller to behave...

Cheers
Dave.

Nah its not stock twins .. its got a 76mm single on it with all the supporting mods.

I dont think its overboosting since it beeps on startup and continues until I shut the car off.

Also I do have the manual but its in Jap. .. no comprende esse lol

Your setting for your warning maybe to low, thats the only thing i believe it could be. Try that and let me know.

Found a manual online so Im good there, thanks for the offer!! .. finally figured out how to do the all reset mode .. had to pull the white and blue (2 wire ) plug to allow me to navigate the unit. I than redid the initial setup and it persists. Didnt even get a chance to set the warning up. I am almost 100% positive I wired this in correctly because I wired it in the same time I wired my map ecu 2 and am very familiar with the OEM harness into the ECU. But tomorrow I will double check the wiring because after I do my initial setup it does not read boost (in PSI) or rpms. I take it down the road and hit full boost and still nothing. Im almost about to uninstall the whole boost controller and sell it. But the only thing that is keeping me from doing this is the fact that I really haven't found another that can compare to it around the same price range .. And im not looking for a full race boost controller.

negative .. that seems like a function that is useless and pointless on my car as I purchased the boost controller to do just that .. control the boost.

You dont think that would make it keep beeping do you?

no.. check your warning boost level, is it too low? although if its constantly on then i wouldn't think thats the problem...

try disconnecting your rpm and throttle wires, maybe they are hooked up wrong... what does the manual say about constant beeping? I thought I saw a section on beeping..

it may very well be the wires but i doubt it .. also I checked the manual and saw nothing in the trouble shooting section on constant beeping ..
