smoking on idle....
hi and sorry my first post is a plea for help
i have a evo with 2.3 stroker kit and many other parts from AMS
i am running a standard head with hks 272 cams, supertech dual springs with smaller stem seals
it has always used a bit of oil but not much...
then it started to smoke sometimes on start up....a few revs and it would clear, then no probs.
after a few power runs on dyno it started to smoke more on idle until now every time it comes to idle it clouds on pull away.
but once on boost its fine no probs at all
ive read a few things on here about valve stem issues.....what do you guys think???

its 100% oil smoke and im sure its nothing to do with rings doesnt cause a problem with revs or boost
only after a while on idle or after engine has been at high revs and you roll off throttle.
so sounded like stem seals to me.
ive took cam out and seals look ok,will take springs off next

does it only do it when engine is cold or all the time at idle
valve seals generally get warmer and seal better once up to temp. i have had a few car that would somke from start up then not smoke again ubless enigine was cold

I have seen plenty engines with damaged rings smoke during all kinds of conditions. Do a compression test.....

right ok ive done a few tests...
ive taken turbo off and it looked like oil was coming from stem seals as you could see it around the exhaust valves in head....
so i blanked the oil feed off and started it with no turbo and still smokes like mad.
ive now taken cams out and a couple of springs and valve seals look ok,all i can think is the supertech seals may be slightly to big around valve stem??
