I have a question about these stroker kits. Do you HAVE to remove the balance shafts in order to use these stroker cranks? Any of you experts know?

I am pretty sure that the Evo is closed up. It is cast iron, so it is a strong ***** ****a.

Thanks for the info But i was thinkin about just running a
Garret GT3040 Dual Ball Bearing Turbocharger
The Turbine utilizes a .82 A/R
GT30 Compressor has a standard .70 A/R.
Should beable to do it.
2.0 Honda can do it.

So the block is cast iron? Now what stuff is this stroker kit made of?

The Tomei is better but if you buy the complete engines...they want you to buy their ecu's as well...because that's what they use for set- up/ fine tuning....
Can you point me to that?

How are the EVO heads? Do they need much work done to them?
500-700hp that is extreme. whats the TQ on that? I was looking around at some of the posts last nite and i dont THINK I SAW this right?
2.85 seconds to 60, 10.9 in the quarter mile with over 130 mph trap speed sounds fast to me? Thats someone on this Board?

Absolutely it’s closed. The block is one great big lump of steel! Just rebuilt a Honda engine for a customer and I know why you ask the question.
Why did i ask that question?

sorry for jacking your post. Im trying to learn about some new to me.

"Why did i ask that question?"

Having no experience with Honda power previously the block seemed alarmingly fragile. We installed an aluminum deck support. Though I appreciate the weight saving rational behind the design it does impose limits. By comparison the 4G63 is bullet proof.

I think I would have to disagree with Claudius here. The whole reason you get a full counter balanced crankshaft (Tomei,Jun) is to cancel the balancer shafts. I would also take the chance and say that it would run rough if you left them in as they would have nothing to counterbalance and therefore cause an imbalance themselves.

No, the balance shafts are not actually necessary as far as the crankshaft balance is concerned. The entire rotating assembly is balanced independant of the balance shafts. They are there to dampen inherent vibration found in all in-line four cylider engines. The reason I asked if he had to remove them was for block clearance. I wasn't sure if you had to clearance the block to clear the longer throw crankshaft or not...

Can anyone confirms if there's a need to machine the block or the balancershafts in order to install the Tomei 2.2L stroker kit which has a 94mm crankshaft?

You only need to hone your cylinders for the Tomei kit and remove your balance shafts. Tomei's site says to remove it.

So there's no need to notch the bottom of the bore in order to clear the conrods? Yup, read about removing the balance shafts already
