2.3L vs 2.0L
I know theres been a lot of threads on what to get. go with a 2.0L for the track and a 2.3L for the street is what everyone has said.
now if you had 2 evos same turbo kit, cams, inj, etc etc..but one evo had a built 2.0L, and both tuned by the same tuner and the other had a 2.3L which would win?slow roll race?1/4mile?
i know the 2.0L can rev higher, but the 2.3L has the torque.i see plenty 35r evo with 2.3l pushing 600 awhp on 29-30psi and with more boost run 10.2-10.3.
but i rarely see 35R evo timeslips with a 2.0L.
i will be doing one of these to builds sometime..i may have a track near by i may not.but it will have to be a street driven as well..
im thinking the 2.3L b/c i usually do daily driving/freeway runs.
if anyone could tell me which would be the quickest/fastest of the two.
i know there may not be a REAL answer, but maybe someone has/knows people with both set ups etc
thank in advance

The combination of the 35R and the 2.3 litre stroker is remarkable.... the torque on full boost is just stupendous... ITs a lot quicker on the street , plant the throttle you're there...

I was wondering what the reliability of the 2.3 is? If it is better suited for a street car, and used for daily driving conditions, what is the life expectancy of the engine, if you aren't constantly beating it, but just driving it normally with the occasional highway pull?

This is a highly subjective topic, everyone has a different opinion. Your best bet is to spend the money and try things for yourself. That being said...
2.3s are a blast on the street, no question. They spool big turbos quickly enough to keep things fun. The higher revving 2.0 does better at the track since you can stay in lower gears longer to take advantage of the greater torque multiplication for longer. EVOs are at somewhat of disadvantage to the DSMs with strokers thanks to the short final drive too. I'm already crossing the traps at 8000 rpm on my stock motor with the Green/20gLT in the mid 120s. DSMs get up into the mid 130s at the same RPM. The higher final drive lets you get a little more use of of first gear too, which already goes by so fast.
IMO/IME, a mean mostly-street/occassional-strip setup would be a 2.3, 35R, and 4.11 final drive. I thoroughly enjoyed just such a setup in my 2g, which saw several built 2.0s and 2.3s, with various turbos up through the T67 it ran last, and would love to do it on the EVO as well someday.

there really is no replacement for displacement
with all things being equal the larger motor will hit boost much sooner and it will have more ho and much more tq sooner and wont need to rev as high as the 2.0 to get the same hp.
if there are any honda guys in here its like comparing a b16 to a b18 or a b16 to a b20. the larger motor always feels 100xx better and makes so much more hp and tq.
