This is interesting that the Evo IX TC seems to brake as much as the 03 TC.

Does anyone know if there were any changes to the TC from 05 to 06? I thought the ACD TC were supposed to be pretty strong, but maybe the IX's are not.

The 05's and up evos tcase are much better than the 03. The ACD helped alot in preventing transfer case issues but they still have their share of blown cases.

I'm sure some people don't know how to drive their car either and blame it on the car

i will agree that we're not all the best drivers out there but still some of the cars had to be manufacturer defects. most evo owners i know have been thru a transfer case or 2....at this point we'd just love to find out if there is a solution... tellin us we might not be the best driver isnt helpin at all

it seems odd that there is (on this poll) only a couple 04 and 05 issues. 10 issues with the 03's I would expect but 10 with the IX also. Seems like something must have changed from 05 to 06 that made the TC weaker.

I have a theory that the 6 speed might be a little harder on the TC because of the lower 1st gear. I know adding a strong clutch and launching the car doesn't seem to help much either.

nobody is pointing the finger at anybody here... however i know of a few people that are local and just abuse the living hell out of there cars, and wonder why the transfer case has gone. There are people that can drive, and some that don't. I also agree that there are manufacturer defects which even the best driver can't help. I myself had a manufacturer defect from the transmission.

I just can't wait till someone can make parts to rebuild the transfer cases for much cheaper, and i believe shep has been working on that
