Upping Boost = Roaring Engine?

Ill try my best to do this without sounding like a complete jackass. I have the IX, and most people had the same issue as me, werent boosting as high as the VIII's. I did a boost leak test, everything was fine. I would peak at 1.1 bar and taper down to .9. Now I have it set to 1.3 bar, tapers down to 1.1. Im afraid to take it above 1.3 bar without a tune, heard many people say I will get too much knock (noob--still dunno what knock does but know too much is bad).

Before installing the boost controller, the Megan catback and cat delete would make a nice deep VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV sound when floored to redline. (make the "V" sound youll get it when you do it)

Now when I upped the boost to 1.3 bar, it makes more of a WAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! when floored to redline sound. sounds completly different, almost as if the car finally woke up?

Is there suposed to be a major sound difference when upping the boost? Just wanted to make sure nothing bad is gonna happen from doing it.

Mods: Megan catback, cat delete, Hallman boost controller set to 1.3 bar

Well, just know that since you're forcing more air in and allowing the outgoing air to flow freely, of course it will sound a little louder. Nothing to worry about.

I cant wait until you put cams in your car, then you can be really scared of how loud it is.

ahmed..my IX was boosting 1.4 when i got it with the only mod being a defi boost gauge...

i think 1.3 is ok without a tune...to that limit the stock "self learning" ecu can figure out how much fuel to dump etc...
i dont think you will have aproblem...

goodluck

Yeah leave it at 1.3 till you get tuned. You are flowing more air, like said above, it will be louder.

the sound of my car slightly changed even from tune to tune. if you ever put cams in the car, that will change the exhaust sound slightly as well

aahhaa....

Your turbos working harder so its making more "noise" or WAAHHHHH as you call it. Maybe it would be better if you get a tune bofore you up the boost.
