For those who want Evo 9 'TME' turbo

Good news,

It seems like the standard JDM Evo 9 MR turbo is titanium aluminide turbine with aluminum compressor wheel.

Also, magnesium compressor wheel is also optional, but it seems the 9MR option is little different from 9RS/9GSR option turbo, at least according to the difference in price and parts code.

Don't forget, in Japan MR is a different version of the car rather than a trim level (ie VIII MR RS, VIII MR GSR, IX RS, IX GSR, IX MR RS, IX MR GSR). It seems like the US Evo IX MR is basically a JDM IX GSR with some trim upgrade such as the BBS wheels although I'm not 100% positive.

I found the turbos from japanparts.com but I'm sure you can order from any shops that sells Mitsu OEM parts.

Yes, the USDM IX MR is not a true MR - it's just rebadged, because it sells so well here. It would be nice to know for sure if the JDM IX MR is a IX TME...that would be great. I would avoid the magnesium compressor, though...

sblvro,

The thread only shows the VIN difference between the 3 trims sold in the states (RS, GSR and MR)

Don't forget, JDM IX GSR is quite different from USDM IX GSR, it comes with 6 speed, aluminum roof, piano wood looking trim, HID, Recaro seats (JDM IX RS come with standard Lancer seats), Bilstein shocks etc. Only difference I know between JDM IX GSR and USDM IX MR is the BBS wheels which is optional on the JDM IX GSR and the rear bumper (has the dark grey diffuser looking trim). Also USDM IX MR and JDM IX GSR has inconel turbine wheel and aluminum compressor wheel for the turbo, whereas JDM IX MR RS and JDM IX MR GSR have titanium aluminide turbine and aluminum compressor wheel, Ti-Al turbine + Magnesium compressor wheel turbo is optional on JDM IX GSR and JDM IX MR GSR/RS, standard on IX RS.

I will try to do some more research and find some differences between JDM IX and JDM IX MR.

Found it.

I had a hard time finding it as Mitsubishi Motors Japan removed pretty much all the direct links to Evo 9 and Evo 9 MR.

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/p...etail1511.html

It's in Japanese.

The main IX MR 'updates' from IX are:

*Engine*

- Small adjustments to MIVEC system
- Turbo wheels, going from inconel/aluminum to titanium aluminide/aluminum

*Suspension*

- Eibach springs, now 1cm (0.4inch) lower overall, better feel at corners (optional on RS)
- Super AYC system updated

*Exterior*

- Improved air dam
- New color options
- Color updates in standard Enkei wheel and optional BBS wheel
- 'Privacy glass' for rear window and rear passenger windows, I'm assuming just tinted (N/A on RS)
- MR badging

*Interior*

- Piano black trim, metallic (or metallic look) door handles and A/C knob (N/A on RS)
- Aluminum scuff plate
- Alcantara and 'Protein' leather Recaro seat with red stitching (optional on RS for front seats, N/A for rear seats on RS)
- 6 Speaker standard (N/A on RS)

Keep in mind that on the japanese evo 9 MR they went with a smaller compressor wheel (15G).
