New Evo Owner - Mod Questions

I just bought an 04 evo. It is bone stock, great condition. I have owned and modified two third gen rx-7's. As far as the evo goes, what is the easiest, most affordable place to start. I don't want to start dumping in loads of cash right now, because the car is still under warranty, but I haven't worked with this engine since an old talon tsi.
Should I simply look at ecu flashes. Would it be best to start with headers or a downpipe, or just the downpipe. You see what I am getting at. I would like to see about 400hp eventually, but not right now. So far, I've heard good things about the buscher stage 1. Appreciate the advice.

*sigh*

You are in the Rocky Mountain area, so you can get a lot of direct, local help at RMEVO.com. When joining a new forum and choosing not to post in the Newbie forum first, it's a good idea to read the rules and to search when you know your question has been asked by a million other noobs. The rules say to search before posting and to use the newbie forum for newbie questions. The worst possible thing you can do is ignore both of those rules and post this utterly basic question in Evo General. Just a heads up...

Here's 183 threads to help you learn about what mods to get first:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/se...archid=5619255

Here's a thread talking about great stg1 packages from Buschur:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...08&postcount=1

Here's 24 threads directly referencing Buschur stages in the thread title:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/se...archid=5619271

All of thse are just in Evo General, but there are tons more in the other forums, too.

Just go with Buschur's stages and you will enjoy the car.

Everything but pushing Buschur down everyones throats.....nothing wrong or against Buschur, but there are other options. If Warr is merely referencing Buschur's site for the different "stages" then fine, forget what I said!

i mean i guess ill try to answer your question instead of telling you to search. I think basic turboback exhaust, o2 housing and a tune would be a fairly decent way to very mildly mod the car, im kinda in the same boat with the warranty thing too, but chances are if anything goes wrong and the car is stock they will just tell me i drove the car to hard or something anyway.

I suggest these mods:
fuel pump
turbo back exhaust
manual boost controller
boost gauge
air filter

and when you're done, let me tune it to extract the power, the stock tune is horrible. I have a link in my sig that explains the process and software/hardware required. I recently added a video tutorial to make it even easier.

what do you mean by o2 housing? Also is the stock fuel pump that underpowered? I have heard from two people to replace it already.

thanks

No cramming. He asked specifically about Buschur stg1 as an option, so I provided a search link to a bunch of threads relevant to his question.

I think after a while the search IDs stop working.

TBE,fuel pump,MBC,LICP,Drop in (or Buschur air filter),tune/flash should be good to start out with. Then later on you can make the move to cams, 10.5, meth et cetera.

The buschur stages are top notch so you cant go wrong with that warrtalon plus many others can back that up

check out the buschur stages to see what mods to do - you dont necessarily have to do buschur parts, but the parts they list are the ones to do.
