Aside from the fact that almost all of your prices were about $3-4k too low ($20-21k is more like it), here is the short list of what you forgot:
- axles
- driveshaft
- IC piping
- intake manifold & throttle body
- exhaust
- suspension
- roll cage
- seat
- harness
- tires
- wheels
- fuel system
- The other half of the AEM (yeah, $1000 does not buy everything you need to tune for 1000hp)
- The rest of the tune. If you think you can get a 1000hp tune that won't blow up for $500 ... you're nuts.
That's about $12-15,000 MORE right there and you haven't even installed it yet! Plus I'm sure I forgot at least a couple of things. So that would be about $35k just in raw parts if you were conservative in your build.

Thats what i was trying to say a few posts above! plus your right about the low aem and tuning cost.

I can't believe some people think it costs only $15,000 to build a 1,000 awhp Evo.
The AEM EMS tuning alone would cost a over $1,000 at best considering all the potential pitfalls in a 1,000 awhp car.
Race gas isn't cheap either.
Not to mention all the tools / equipment you'd probably need to perform all the work that a DIY'er probably would not have.
Things like a lift, air tools, and an engine lift would be required to do some of the build-up.
BTW, I'm sure a nice transmission rebuild / upgrade would be needed as well.

If you know what you are doing, it doesn't take much to reach 1000whp. Heres all the ingredients for the recipe (this is for a proven and reliable dragster):
-Fully built block (welded and re-enforced) $4000
-fully ported race head with cams $3000
-GT42R+manifold+downpipe $3000
-built tranny and drivetrain (including triple plate clutch) $5000
-Full race FMIC $1000
-AEM standalone $1000
-Killer tuning $500

Total---> $17,500.00
Its not rocket science. If you feel confident in installing these items, then go for it. People forget that countless 4G63 powered 1000+whp AWD dsms have been around for more than a decade.

You CAN count the 1000 HP DSMs, and pretty easily. Just look at the ones running 8s, 7s, and 6s. Counting the ones that make more than 1000HP reliably will take your fingers, including your opposable thumb, and maybe your toes in a pinch.
Your estimate shows your lack of understanding of high HP cars.
Blocks for 1000HP may have your estimate in machine work alone, before the ultra high end parts to keep it in one piece.
Race heads cost $750 for high end dual springs/retainers, $750 for cams, $600 for valves, and then you start porting...
GT42R turbo $1800, two Tial 44s $700, manifold $1400, plus downpipe and large exhaust $1000+, and all the other "small" parts that are needed...
Built tranny $3000+, Tilton clutch $4000....
AEM standalone $1250..... sensors $400.....
Tuning -- probably dozens of dyno hours to get it optimized....
Plus injectors, intake, intake and intercooler piping, high end intercooler, driveshaft, upgraded axles, wheels and tires, brakes, rear end protection/upgrades, better motor mounts, wideband and gauges, fuel system, etc. etc. etc.
600 WHP cars don't grow on trees. Another 400 HP is not just a matter of bolting on parts, or everyone would do it...
