272 will give you a rougher idle but a little more power up top

They are the same only in duration, which is a measure in degrees (out of 360) during which they act upon the valve. The actual total valve lift, where they start to lift the valve in relation to the crankshaft rotation (advance), and how quickly they raise/lower the valve during that time are likely very very different. All of these factors of a cam profile have a major effect on the actual power curve produced by the cam.

Cam grinding is a much a function of art as science... so you normally pay for the ones that have the right stuff, compared to WAG ones.

..."ramp rate" is a common old school term... or the "art" of the matter...

I was looking through Takakaira and it appears that HKS makes two different version of each of the 264 and 272 intake and exhaust cams.

Duration......Lift
264 in..........10.3
264 ex..........9.8
272 in..........10.3
272 ex..........9.8

264 in..........10.8
264 ex.........10.2
272 in..........10.8
272 ex.........10.2

Can anyone confirm this?

Your right I read my HKS catalog wrong. Here are the correct cam specs:

Intake Cams:

264 duration 10.3 lift angle 110 HKS part # 22002-AM001

272 duration 10.8 lift angle 110 HKS part # 22002-AM003

Exhaust Cams:

264 duration 10.2 lift angle 110 HKS part # 22002-AM002

272 duration 10.2 lift angle 110 HKS part # 22002-AM004

Sorry for the mixup. These are the cams listed for our model EVO others are also made but for earlier models (2202) part #'s.
