Evo 8, Smoke, Oil smell comin out of the exhaust when I let off the Gas.

MY evo just stared doing this. Black Smoke, and Oil smell comes out of the exhaust when I let off the Gas. This is after I get the engine on heavy load. I checked the spark plugs and the plugs are normal. No signs of oil burning. Any advise?

black smoke usually means your very rich. before anyone can help you, you need to give more details about your car, like mods and tuning.

it was tuned in january at torque freaks. it had LICP, helix down pipe, test pipe and cat back, hks intake, and ran 23 psi. It put down 312 AWHP. I just added a hyperflow FMIC, and a greddy UICP. And it just started smoking then, I have been watchin the oil level, but I'm not losing any oil. I also noticed that my peak boost is only hiiting 20 psi. that could have been caused by the bigger FMIC? I've also been swapping the JDM mr metal BOV to the greddy type rs one. As i thought it had something to do with the decrease on boost.

A boost leak will do that? I was running 23 peak psi before the FMic, but only peaking at 18, and it holds it there. a local tuner said because of the better heat exchange/efficiency of the larger FMIC, the peak boost lowered.

Sounds to me like bad rings, and your getting oil in the cylinder.

And some people are color blind, and can't tell the difference between blue-black smoke and just black. If he's smelling burned oil, he probably has oil getting into the combustion chamber.

you can smell oil leaking onto a down pipe also hence a burning smell and it would be and oily burning smell. if there was oil in the combustion chamber it would be using oil hence blue smoke would be coming out of the exauhst . there for you would be adding about a quart a week if you had bad piston rings.

found the culpit. the turbo was leaking oil. It's in my intake/intercooler tract. FMIC, LICP, UICP all full of oil. not oil on the tbody tho.

Fit an oil catch can with a filter on top and it will cure it
