Help Me Spend my Money!! ~4k
#32
Hmm - 4k to spend on a stock VIII and looking for good, street friendly power?
I would skip the 10.5 hotside and just buy a good used Evo 9 turbo - until you compare the 8 and 9 turbo side-by-side you won't understand the difference. Some good cams (the GSC S1 seems like a solid choice), a full 3" exhaust with an ebay down pipe and a Walbro 255 fuel pump. Be sure to get a solid custom tune. Oh, you will need some form of boost control, either manual electronic. I prefer an EBC or ECU based solution that doesn't require adjusting boost every time the temps change. The stock airbox & FMIC are decent enough for the power levels with the mods above.
Along with those mods I would also add ARP head studs (or equivalent), along with ARP rod bolts & main bearing studs. I lost an engine to spun bearing because of a stretched rod bolt - something I could have easily prevented.
After that I'd grab some good wheels & tires. If you are considering suspension mods get help from someone like Robi; it's easy to make the car feel different without actually improving it's handling.

you guys don't know what you are talking about. The money is all in the family. My parents didn't want me to buy another performance car with the $. I gave the $ to buy a nicer car and i get to drive a performance car.

If you are going to run alky injection get a good system like aquamist. There are a couple of threads running around here with some very good comparisons of different kits and how they work. Aquimist is quality. Other than that just get all the bolts ons you can including cams

If i could, i would get a IX.
Thanks man, i was considering aquamist as pretty much the only kit i would buy.
i think i will get all the bolt ons first. then if i want more power, ill spray meth.

You could come over to my house and buy all of my used crap My garage looks like a BR storage barn at this point, whatcho need...BR stg 4, coilovers, rims, tires, motors, headstuds, injectors, Revolver cams, transmissions, a spare car for parts, I got it all.
Well i just sold my STi and my brother wants a luxury car. I have decided to give him the money from my STi ~33k and take over his BBY 03 EVO VIII.
As of now, the car is BONE Stock. All it has is a turbo timer.
This is what i was was thinking.
Buschur TBE
ETS FMIC
GSC S1 cams. (or should i go HKS 272's)
Hallman RX Pro MBC
Intake (What kind??)
Walbro 255lph.
10.5 hotside
02 housing (which one?!)
Tune
Let me know what you guys think and tell me anything i can add to the list. I know this setup adds up to less than $2500 probably. Please leave some $ for labor, as i wont have any place to work on my car in school.
I know alot more about STi's than Evo's, so educate me haha.
Thanks alot guys!
